It seems as though Spring may finally be here and if you’re like us you’re looking for ways to spruce up your home. I love these vibrant, cheerful accent pillows from Burke Decor and think they’d help brighten any space. New plants and herbs are always my other go to trick of livening up my apartment come this time of year. Go visit your local greenhouse and ask for suggestions on the best houseplants to ensure they’ll actually survive.

In our thoughts…

boston

We’ve all been feeling sad and down over the news coming out of Boston in the past few days. Juliet and I feel strong ties to Boston from going to college in the area and most of our freelancers are also from Boston. Juliet and I both attended Marathon Monday every year as students along with most of the city and couldn’t believe when we heard the news. The marathon was always a really fun, joyous occasion that we all looked forward to each year. I guess things always seem scariest when you can relate to how easily those affected could have been any one of us. I know a lot of us are looking for ways to help out, but it doesn’t seem like there is much to be done at the moment. Remember to keep your ears open as blood donation may be needed again in the near future and if you’re in the Boston area I’ve heard of some runners needing housing. In times like these it always reminds me how important it is to step back and put your life in perspective, remember how much family means, and how fortunate we are to be safe and healthy.

Southern California Weddings

greetings_from_california_postcard-p239144232330584111qibm_400

The California state flower just so happens to be the poppy, so we thought it only appropriate that we spend more time in it’s Southern parts this year! Since we’ll already be visiting San Diego and Santa Barbara this year to design weddings, we wanted to officially let everyone know that we’re taking inquiries for your wedding or event in the great state of California! Can’t wait to see you out there!

imelda

royal-imelda-marcos

I remember being a small child and hearing about Imelda Marcos (and her shoes) and thinking, “What’s so wrong with that?”  There’s something kooky and campy and slightly dark about about her whole persona, which is why I’m dying to see Here Lies Love at the the Public Theater.  Created by David Byrne with help by Fatboy Slim it’s less of a traditional musical and more of an event. The show has just been extended through May 19th.
I can’t stop listening to Florence Welch singing the title song.

Good right?  Oh, and the concept album is available on iTunes, with Florence Welch, Cyndi Lauper, and Santigold etc etc etc.

A Few of Our Favorite Things…

meettheteambaner

This week we are happy to share a few favorite things from the lovely ladies at Firefly Events. Teissia & Alia (the ladies behind Firefly) are some of the hippest chicks around.  With their keen eye for detail, amazing organizational skills, and all around fun loving personalities these two are the go to girls when you’re planning an event.  Take it away ladies….

#1 This Dresser

Dresser

Since we just moved into a new office (woo!) we’ve been on the hunt for great furniture items. We love this mid-century dresser from West Elm because it’s simple and classy. A great palette for some fun accent pieces both on top of the dresser and on the wall above it.

#2 These Nails

NailsThese fun nails from our friends at Winsome Brave have taken the place of all our push pins! They make any bulletin/dream board that much cooler!

#3 This Scarf

scarfIn hopes that it will one day be Spring here in NYC, we’re starting to add a bit more color back into our wardrobes. This pale peach scarf has us dreaming of picnics in the park and days sans coats ;)!

#4 This Necklace

NecklaceUmm…yes, please! This beautiful from Unearthen has been on our wish list for some time now. The uniting of crystal and empty bullet creates a powerful opposition that we’re simply loving!

#5 The Kin

As designers inspiration is imperative and sometimes it comes from places you least expect. This week it was seeing The Kin play at The McKittrick Hotel. The collaboration between Aussie brothers, Thorald and Isaac Koren is something I hope everyone can witness live at some point. Truly amazing!

#6 This Purse

Purse(option2)We love the bags from Coriumi, and have several already, but this is our current fave. It’s light and airy and perfect for Spring/Summer. Can you tell we have warm weather on the brain?

#7 This Umbrella

umbrella

Continuing with our weather theme, we are loving this Vintage Dot Print Umbrella from ShopBop. As a New Yorker it’s imperative that you have a stylish and durable umbrella, for the many rainy days, and this falls into that category perfectly!

#8 Freeman’s Restaurant

slide160Not only is this Lower East Side gem right around the corner from our new office (literally), but it’s got some of the best food, cocktails and atmosphere in the city! We hold a lot of “meetings” there these days. In fact we had a brunch “meeting” with the lovely ladies from P+P there not that long ago. Cocktails may or may not have been had before 12pm… ;)

sisters

While this is rather untimely, this video has been out “forever”, I couldn’t resist.  If you haven’t seen/heard Lennon and Maisy Stella sing watch this video of them doing Erato‘s cover of Robyn‘s Call Your Girlfriend.  If you have, you should probably watch it again.

We’ve been playing it on repeat. Then felt a bit foolish after talking about how we couldn’t believe that these girls parents hadn’t cashed in on their talent only to realize that they were on Nashville.
